The Canadian Deafness Research & Training Institute (CDRTI) was founded in 1988 to meet the research and training needs in the field of deafness both nationally and internationally.

L'Institut Canadien de Recherche et de Formation sur la Surdite (ICRFS) a été fondée en 1988 pour répondre à la recherche et les besoins de formation dans le domaine de la surdité à la fois sur une échelle nationale et internationale.

Inuit Sign Language (ISL)

CDRTI works collaboratively with the Nunavut Deaf Society (NDS) to record and revitalize the Inuit Sign Language, and to identify deaf Nunavummiut and their families across Nunavut.

Deaf Access to HealthCare

CDRTI and NDS have created infographic posters for use in healthcare settings to sensitize staff and medical professionals to the special communication needs of the Deaf community.
