Learning ISL with flashcards
To accompany the life story videos, CDRTI has generated sixty-four Inuit Sign Language (ISL) vocabulary flashcards which include representations of Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun, fingerspelling, ISL, English and French. The use of fingerspelling by both the Deaf and hearing Nunavummiut in their communities is noteworthy, providing a more inclusive social model which directly reflects the Inuit Societal Value of being welcoming and inclusive inclusion (Tunnganarniq).
These graphically designed flashcards are generated in close consultation with local peoples to ensure that representations are culturally appropriate. ISL Flashcards are being complied into various game formats to provide users an opportunity to learn and practice ISL.
